Christian Historical Romance Writer's Blog and Newsletter News and Updates

Welcome! If you read last month's blog, you are prepared for the changes ahead. If you didn't, let me give you a head's-up—Based on the differing interests of my readers, the Timeless Love blog will now be a variety bite-sized sections instead of a single subject. And it will take the place of my quarterly newsletter since it will include a "Newsletter" segment. Enjoy!

Publishing News and Updates!

Super excited to share some publishing news. My short story about my grandfather's thirty years of missionary work, A Time for Five Hundred Churches, has published as part of Guidepost's compilation book, In God's Time. My grandfather's story is nestled among other short stories by a variety of authors, all with the theme of "In God's Time" based on Ecclesiastes 3:1 "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:"

My grandfather, Daddy Jay, lived an extraordinary life for the Lord and was the best grandfather I could have asked for. He was truly a gentle and loving soul and I pray this story honors his memory.

Excited to share my flash fiction story, A Ruby Red Perspective, published in Spark Flash Fiction Magazine's Spring Issue 2025!

"As he followed his line of sight from kitten heels to the red and white gingham dress with a bow at her narrow waist to vibrant scarlet lips, he whispered, 'Did I die and go to Heaven?'”

Book Review of Salome by Author Jenifer Jennings

(News and Updates)

Salome, a Biblical Fiction, is the 7th and final book in the Servant Siblings series. Salome is about Salome bat Joseph, the youngest of eight siblings. This story about the youngest of Jesus' siblings shows the transformation of a young woman who is shy and unsure, leaving her comfort zone and telling stories learned from her oldest brother, the Messiah.

Though she is fearful, the Holy Spirit within won't allow her to be silent, despite the danger, despite her suffering. This story highlights the persecution of The Way Followers (Christians) by the Pharisees and Romans of the day from Salome's perspective and her decision to speak the truth no matter what.

When Salome is comforted time and again by Hiram, a family friend, he becomes her lifeline to the world and eventually much more.

This story is a call to bravery—to speak truth—to love our enemies and to love the Lord more than even our freedom. I highly recommend this beautiful story of faith and courage in the face of hate and tyranny.

A Life of Gratitude!

Isn't it fun going about your business only to stumble upon an unexpected blessing? Maybe everyone doesn't see ducklings in the neighborhood as a blessing, but I love having wildlife visit my property, except for those vicious predators that steal my chickens! And when I have the privilege of writing about a furry or feathery critter, even those pesky predators, many times I draw from personal experiences.

Often when I'm considering the creatures that live on my property and in our neighborhood, I think of the following verse. And I am amazed at the loving care of our Holy Father.

"Consider the raven: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!"

If fact, one day, this song came to mind, and I had to share it. Acapella and unedited—a time of worship that I couldn't keep to myself. And I guess I still can't.

Encouragement for Writers:

(News and Updates)

They call this a "writing journey" for a reason. It is long, arduous, filled with hills, valleys, mountaintop experiences, and broken and stuck in the ravine experiences. It's not for the faint of heart. But if you are like me, no matter how many times I lay (figuratively) bleeding, wounded, and exhausted, I can't quit, because there are still words to write, stories to tell, and the Lord is still using this "dream" to change and mold me into a usable vessel. And He'll do the same with you if you let Him. Don't give up. There is joy to be found, and lessons to be learned in the highs and in the lows. Turn your eyes upon Jesus, and write . . . write . . . write for His glory, for the reader who needs your words, and for yourself because it's who you are.
