The Christian Life: "Only You, Lord." A poem inspired by Matthew 5:6.
Welcome! If you've been following this series, you know this is the fourth poem in my series of poems inspired by the beatitudes found in Matthew 5. If you are new, I'm so glad you came. Today's poem focuses on Matthew 5:6.

"Only You, Lord"
by Sandy Kay Slawson
Only You, Lord,
Only You satisfied,
My thirst.
Only You fulfilled,
My hunger.
I asked,
And You came.
Because You love me, Lord.
For Your Name's sake, Lord.
Not because of me.
I tried,
But my righteousness,
Is like filthy rags.
I cried,
But my sorrow was for my,
Own selfish relief.
I searched,
But no one and nothing,
Quenched my thirst,
Satisfied my hunger,
Until I thirsted and hungered after You,
My Righteousness,
Jesus, Living Water.
Jesus, The Bread of Life.
Only You,
Only You, Lord,
Can satisfy forever.

Yes, it's true. Only the Lord Jesus can satisfy the longings of our souls. If you haven't called on Him or trusted in Him for the salvation of your soul...why not today? Why not today?
Update-
Have you checked out my website recently? I've been busy making changes. Take a look, and let me know what you think. Also, my Hope for Charity manuscript is scheduled to go to the copy editor on March 5th. That's the next huge step towards publishing my novel. Pray it goes well, please.

Happy Monday and Happy week. May the Lord God bless each of you and your families with faith, hope and love. In Jesus' Name.
In Christ,
Sandy
