The Christian Life: "Mercy In Me" A poem inspired by Matthew 5:7.

Welcome! If you've been following this series, you know this is the fifth poem in my series of poems inspired by the beatitudes found in Matthew 5. If you are new, I'm so glad you came. Today's poem focuses on Matthew 5:7.

"Mercy In Me"

by Sandy Kay Slawson

"I dwell on this word,

Merciful.

And I wonder,

I search,

For the mercy in me.

I have needed,

Mercy.

Forgiveness.

Understanding.

I have wanted,

Mercy.

Help.

Compassion.

But...is there mercy,

In me?

When I've been wronged,

Offended.

When I've been hurt,

Wounded.

When I've been harmed,

Broken.

Within and without.

Where is the mercy in me?

No, they don't deserve it.

Neither did I.

They don't even care.

But...neither did I.

Is it possible, Lord,

To be merciful,

To such as them?

Yes, He reminds.

Yes, He confirms.

I can,

I should,

I must,

Give mercy,

Forgiveness,

Help.

I can,

Because there is,

Mercy in me,

It came from Him.

It came from the Lord,

It came for me."

Ephesians 2:4-5 (esv)

"But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved."

WIP (Work In Progress) Update:

My manuscript and first novel "Hope for Charity" in now in the hands of my *line/copy-editor. Since that novel is out of my hands for now, I have turned my focus back to my other WIP's. Here is a list of what else I'm working on in the order of their potential completion dates. (Remember any names I give my novels is subject to change.)

  1. "Love Lost and Love Found"-This novel is in its first round of edits. Don't worry I intend to get professional help much sooner for this one. This story begins in 1898 America.

  2. Sequel to "Love Lost and Love Found"-I am still in the writing process for this novel.

  3. Sequel to "Hope for Charity"-I am at the beginning of the writing process for this novel.

After the "Hope for Charity" edits are completed, it goes into the hands of an Acquisitions Editor who has requested it. She works for a traditional publishing agency. Although I hope this will lead to a publishing contract, it is not guaranteed. I will try to keep you updated throughout the process. I trust the Lord will lead me, "Hope for Charity" and my other works wherever we need to go. I appreciate your support so much!

*What is a line edit?

"A line edit addresses the creative content, writing style, and language use at the sentence and paragraph level."

*What is a copy edit?

"By contrast, the goal of a copyedit is to address flaws on a very technical level – to make sure the writing that appears on the page is in accordance with industry standards. This is like an incredibly high-end proofread."

Happy Monday and Happy week. May the Lord God bless each of you and your families with faith, hope and love. In Jesus' Name.

In Christ,

Sandy
