The Christian Life: "He Is Worthy," A poem inspired by Matthew 5:10-12.
Welcome! This is the eighth and last poem in my series inspired by the Beatitudes found in Matthew 5. I'm so glad you are here whether you are a regular or a newbie. Today's poem focuses on Matthew 5:10-12. I combined these three verses because they all deal with our subject today: Persecution. Although this topic is hard to hear, read and talk about, it is good for every Christian to know and understand. Maybe you aren't a Christian but you wonder what makes us continue in our faith when it puts a big target on our heads. I hope you will see, really see, today. Believer, whatever happens here, this is not our home. The best is yet to come.
"He Is Worthy,"

"It is no surprise when Christians who attempt to live the teachings of Christ are,
PERSECUTED.
When belief in Jesus Christ, who lived and taught; Faith, Hope, Love, Forgiveness, Compassion, Truth….causes,
RAGE.
When Christians who try to live by Jesus’ example are,
HATED.
IMPRISONED.
KILLED.
Jesus said, the world hated Him first.
Jesus said, if the world hated Him, they would hate us, also.
They wanted to SHUT HIM UP. No matter that He,
HEALED.
CARED.
LOVED.
They wanted Him DEAD.
MALICE.
HOSTILITY.
MURDER. THEY MURDERED THE SON OF GOD.
But, only because He laid down His life as a ransom for us.
To pay for OUR SIN.
He allowed it to happen.
MOCKERY.
LIES.
PAIN.
He planned His own DEATH with the Father, in spite of His,
INNOCENCE, because of His LOVE.
Why do we who believe follow in His footsteps,
When we know, WE KNOW, they will hate us and persecute us, too,
Just as He warned?
Because He did not stay DEAD.
He AROSE as He said He would.
He PROMISED we would be raised from the dead, as well.
And we believe.
We BELIEVE,
Our home is with Him.
We BELIEVE,
This life is not the end.
We BELIEVE,
He is the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE,
And there is NO WAY to the Father,
But by Him.
We CARE enough about the souls of our family, friends, coworkers, and acquaintances,
To show them the way.
We LOVE Jesus enough to,
RISK IT ALL.
When I am weak, He is STRONG.
By His strength, I will REJOICE and be GLAD,
For great is my REWARD in Heaven,
But most important of all,
MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL it is because,
He is WORTHY."
